To clean or not to clean, that is the question. -William Shakespeare (or something like that)
Jokes aside, we’re here to help you step up your Spring cleaning game with some disinfecting tips.
Mop, dust, wipe, repeat means your house is pretty clean, right? Not exactly.
Your standard cleaning routine is a great place to start — but it likely has some blind spots. Deep cleaning goes beyond the kitchen sink and door handles. In fact, germs are hiding in the most unexpected places. Besides knowing how frequently you need to spruce things up, it’s super critical to know what and where you need to clean.
Here is a list of things you never thought to clean, but really should.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”50px”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”full_width” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern”][vc_column][vc_separator type=”normal” color=”#4a0d66″][vc_empty_space height=”25px”][vc_column_text]

- #1 Refrigerator: The fridge is one of those things where if it looks clean on the outside, we just assume it’s clean on the inside. Well… that’s usually not the case. Luckily, cleaning it is easier than you think. Just grab a bowl of hot soapy water, your favorite sanitizer, and get to wiping. Don’t forget to wipe those condiment bottles.
- #2 Utensil trays: Ever reached for a fork and caught a glimpse of something gross in the tray? Yeah, we still don’t know the science behind that one. But it’s an easy fix. Remove your utensils and wipe the tray clean with a disinfectant wipe. Let it air dry before replacing your utensils.
- #3 Oven: Tackling the messy, difficult, and time-consuming oven project? It’s safe to say everyone dreads this part of the spring cleaning process. Check out this all-natural way to clean your oven.

- #4 Fan Grill: Household dust, moisture and humidity combine to cake bathroom exhaust fans with debris. Luckily, bath fan grills are easy to clean. Grab the edge of the cover, pull down, and wipe clean
- #5 Bathroom Knick-Knacks: If you’re cleaning the bathroom don’t skip over those decorative pieces like potpourri dishes, candles, picture frames, and other décor

- #6 Window Sills: Over time, windowsills collect dust and hold moisture which can cause bacteria growth. Wipe them down regularly to prevent build-up and damage to the wood around your window frames.
- #7 Pillows: Washing your pillows (the pillow itself) every four months or so is a good idea. Wash them on a gentle cycle with hot water to remove dead skin cells, sweat, and other dirt.
-
- Pro Tip: Add a couple of clean tennis balls to your dryer to help speed up the drying process and to prevent the pillow guts from clumping up.
-
- #8 Mattress: Despite being covered with sheets and a mattress cover, your mattress still gets dirty. It’s not a bad idea to periodically vacuum it and spot clean any stains that may appear. Disinfect the fabric with Lysol and let it dry before making up your bed with fresh linens.

- #9 Purses, Wallets, & Keys: Think about it–your credit card passes through the hands of waiters, cashiers, and every card machine it swipes through. Your keys unlock various doors and vehicles. You set your wallet or purse down on contaminated surfaces without a second thought. After all that foreign contact, it’s important to disinfect those essential items with an anti-bacterial wipe more often than not.
- #10 Car: Pay extra attention to the steering wheel, gear shift, buttons, and door handles to help keep your vehicle germ-free.
- #11 Phone & Headphones: Possibly two of the most touched items you own. These items could use a good cleaning on a daily basis. For headphones, grab a small piece of sticky tack and lightly press and remove it from the headphone to capture dirt from the hard-to-reach areas
- #12 Glasses: As much as we try to not touch our faces, touching and adjusting our glasses causes us to inadvertently make contact near our eyes, nose, and mouth. Here’s some steps to clean your frames:

Step 2.) Use regular antibacterial hand soap and gently wipe down all surfaces with your fingers
Step 3.) Rinse your glasses with warm water and dry them with a lens cloth. Don’t use your shirt, paper towel, or any abrasive materials like anti-bacterial wipes as they can scratch or damage your lenses[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_empty_space height=”25px”][vc_separator type=”normal” color=”#4a0d66″][vc_empty_space height=”25px”][vc_column_text]

- #13 Luggage: Think of all the germs your suitcase may have picked up during travel (in the streets, airports, hotels). When it’s time to get back on the road or in the sky, make sure your suitcase is sanitized for the ride. Lysol the handles, wheels and inside of your suitcase, wipe clean, and air dry.
- #14 Airplane Seat & Tray Table: Although many airlines have really stepped up their aircraft cleaning measures, it’s not a bad idea to disinfect your seat before you sit down. Top spots for airplane germs include the tray table, seatbelt buckles, seatback pockets, and the tops of seats (especially the aisle seats, since a number of people grab them for balance when they walk by.) Be prepared and keep a wipey and sanitizer handy during your travels.
- #15 Hotel Surfaces: If you decide to travel, you’ll want to take as many safety precautions as possible, including sanitizing the touch points in your room, even if the hotel you’re staying at has stringent protocols in place. Consider giving these items a thorough wipe during your stay:

Pro Tip: If you’re not sure about your hotel’s cleaning policies don’t be afraid to ask.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_empty_space height=”25px”][vc_separator type=”normal” color=”#4a0d66″][vc_empty_space height=”25px”][vc_column_text]
